Backup of NetApp Files
Hi@all,
we use Veeam B&R 6.5 to backup our VMware 5.1 cluster (VMs are stored on Datacore storage). This works very good!
Independant to that construct, we have a NetApp FAS2240 connected to our network and we store normal user files on multiple partitions on it.
Now we are looking for a Backup tool, which can backup the files from NetApp to Tapelibrary.
-> Can Veeam B&R v8 backup our VMware environment AND the NetApp-Files on a Tapelibrary? (Veeam is installed on a seperate physical server)
Thanks.
Martin

Re: Backup of NetApp Files
You can use files to tape job to backup individual files to tapes. Since you have VB&R already installed, my recommendation would be to update to the latest version (6.5 is not even supported any longer) and check whether files to tape jobs answer your requirements.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Backup of NetApp Files
OK Thanks, this is one "classic" solution.
But really perfect would be the possibility to use snapshotfunction of NetApp and backup the snapshots inkremental to tapes (NDMP, direct to tape).
Is this possible?
Thanks!

Currently, it's not. We're investigating possibilities, though. So, if you have any specific request regarding it, feel free to post it in the adjacent thread. Thanks.

[MERGED] Backup NetApp (as normal NAS in network)
Hi,
we use a NetApp 2240 as a fileserver, and NOT as a SAN storage. It´s used as normal NAS. (we currently use veeam to backup vmware-cluster on datacore-storage and it´s fine!)
Is it possible to backup files or snapshots of a NetApp with veeam, without using the NetApp as Virtualisation-Storage?
And I don´t want to backup the thousands of files via SMB fileshare over LAN.
Thanks.
Regards,
Martin

Re: Backup of NetApp Files
Martin, currently only file copy or file to tape jobs can be used for that.
