Backup to tape an Specific Full Backup

Post by aruizdi »

Hello,

when you create a Tape Job linked to a Backup Job with multiples Full Backup chains you can choose to send the latest chain or all the chains, but is there any way to send to tape an Specific Full Backup?

Thanks in advance

Hey Aruizdi,

Would not a file to tape job pointing to the same media pool do exactly what you want? It won't carry a "protection" period, but seems like it meets your needs exactly.

No it's not possible. With regular backup to tape you operate on the backup job level (i.e. tape out specific job chains), with GFS to tape you tape out backups for the specific days.

Might be tricky as you need to select exact incremetal restore point and all the previous incrementals till the full backup (to ensure the chain consistency). Do not foget to backup .vbm file as well.

From the top of my head the best solution for one time operation would be to use export to vbk functionality to create a full backup for the desired restore point and then use file to tape job.
