Backup to tape job first run backup only latest chain
Hy!
I am testing the backup to tape job. There is one source backup job which use forward incremental backup mode, synthetic full backup create every Saturday. Now there is 2 backup chain in backup repository, the latest full backup is created 10.01.(saturday).
Today I create a backup to tape job and added the whole backup repository on the Backups section, after I added appear a warning message:
"One or more source backup jobs have multiple full backup chains already created. Should only the latest chain, or all existing chains be sent to tape upon the first job run?"
I selected the All button. After I created the tape job, ran it. I check the backup to tape process and saw the Veeam only copy the latest backup chain, not the all, but I wanted to copy all backup chain during the first backup to tape job run. Why happened it? Why cannot copy the 2 backup chain to tape?
I also enable the tape job on the Options section, in Advanced settings, the following option: Process latest full backup chain only. Because I would like to copy only the latest backup chain to tape. Is this settings impact on the first tape job run? So maybe thats why copy the 2 backup chain to tape during the first tape job?
Thanks.

Hello,
during job creation, the wizard asks whether you want to copy the latest chain or everything. If you answered that with "everything" and you get that type of warning, then support should investigate what really happened.
Please post the support case number for reference.
Best regards,
Hannes

Hello,
hmm, I thought everything after "[...]appear a warning message:" is content of the warning message.
If you configured "all chains" and the product only processes "latest chains", then it's up to support to figure out why that happens. I makes no sense to speculate about such issues on a forum.
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Backup to tape job first run backup only latest chain
Hy Hannes!
Check this link. Last picture show the message, where I can choose the All os Latest backup chain.
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=110
I choose the All option. But during the first backup to tape option copy only the latest backup chain, not all.
Is it a bug?

Hello,
I can only repeat what I said above: if you clicked "all" and only the "latest" chain was copied, then please check with Veeam support and post the case number for reference.
That option works fine in general.
Best regards,
Hannes
