Backup to tape job
Good morning
Each day; i want to back up on tape my backup jobs.
so i have added a tape secondary target on my backup jobs.
it works fine except for one backup.
This backup job runs hourly (other jobs run daily).
On the tape job, this backup runs several times so i have several vbk files written on tape (for different hours)
see screenshot below.
You can see i have 2 different vbk files for the same backup job (different time). Sometimes i have 3 or 4 vbk for the job if tape job is longer.
Does a veeam option exists to disable this "multiple backup" ?
thanks a lot for your answers.
Regards
Chris

Re: Backup to tape job
Enabling "process latest full backup chain only" option should be enough to solve the issue. Thanks.

Re: Backup to tape job
With this option in place, whenever executed, a tape job should copy only one .vbk file, not multiple ones. If that's not the case, feel free to contact our support team. Thanks.

Re: Backup to tape job
Maybe it is because my backup job is in reverse incremental mode.
Then the vbk file is modify each hour by backup job and tape job considers vbk file as new and write to tape again ?

Re: Backup to tape job
Ah, should have asked that earlier - indeed, that explains the behaviour experienced.
Every time a backup job is executed, a backup file has been modified already, is considered as new one and thus gets archived accordingly.
Thanks.

Re: Backup to tape job
So there is no option available, except disable backup jobs during tape job ?

Re: Backup to tape job
Correct, reversed incremental mode updates the latest backup file, each update makes a backup file new to a backup to tape job. So, experienced behaviour is expected. Thanks.
