Backup to tape only incremental
My question is the following. I want to run daily tape backup jobs but only take the incremental ones. Within the job options there is a check mark that indicates taking the incrementals. What this does is make a full backup of the disk backup and the incremental ones or is there the possibility of only backing up the .vib files?

This checkbox is needed for the Incremental file backups. See here - https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120

Re: Backup to tape only incremental
I know that it is necessary to activate the processing of the incremental points. But my question is whether when executing the backups, in addition to the .vib files, the .vbk files are also taken.
Because I want to put together the following schedule because the tape backups that are executed on Saturday take the full amount, which requires a lot of time to transfer, and during the week they take the incremental ones.

This might help explain how the full and virtual full backups work to help with scheduling - https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120

Re: Backup to tape only incremental
Unfortunately the article does not clarify the doubt I have. It only informs that the tape, in addition to the full backups, includes the incremental ones.
But it says nothing about the possibility that it only takes the incremental ones.

@SerSunal,
Backup to tape (both to Simple and GFS media pools) will backup whatever is on repository and not yet on tape.
All backup chains must have a "beginning" VBK, so at some point you will need to move a full backup to tape.
Depending on the backup method set for the source (disk) jobs you add to tape jobs, how the tape job behaves will be a bit different:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... up-methods
For the tape job if you leave "archive incremental backups to tape" [0] checked, then it will process the increments only excepting as noted in the link above about source-job-backup-methods.
There is not a way to _only have increments_ on tape without fulls periodically. Either the source job will make periodic fulls that get moved to tape, or for Forever Forward incremental periodically the tape job will make a virtual full directly on tape (no significant disk space needed)
The full on tape is required because without a valid full backup that the increment is linked to, an incremental backup is useless.

Then what you want depends on if your source jobs are Forever Forward Incremental or Forward Incremental (makes periodic full backups). See the link above once more and either set a Virtual Full schedule for weekend, or configure the tape job around the Full schedule of the source job.

Thanks for that information, David. Even I learned something from it.
