Best Practice: Restore ALL (File) Tape Contents
Hi, AFAIK the File Restore from Tape is quite time consuming since I must select which Files/Folders I want to Restore. This ends up with:
a. List manually all Files/Folders on Tape and running several Restore Jobs. And when all ends...
b. Am I really sure I Restored ALL Tape Contents before I can erase the Tape?
It would be much easier if I could run a command such as "Restore Tape".
Is there any better way to Restore?
If YES, please explain.
If NO, please include as a Feature Request.
Thanks.

Hi Strivoli!
We just use the Files Tab when we need to dump a tape back to disk: https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... l?ver=95u4
In the Files tab you can find the tape, just grab the root node of whatever you're backing up, right-click, and restore. It should add everything.

Thanks for the Reply, the process is very unpractical and it is quite the same as the one I've posted. This requires many manual operations and I'm not sure I've restored everything from the Tape.
Is there any other method?

Just an idea for potential workaround:
- deploy fresh backup console
- add tape server to it
- insert tape you need to restore from
- catalog it
- restore everything that's been added to backup server after catalog operation
Thanks!

This issue is still open and I wonder if there's anything new since at least a new version came out in the mean time (more than 1 year).

Re: Best Practice: Restore ALL (File) Tape Contents
Restore from Tape wizard now accepts entire tape as the source of recovery, allowing 1-click selection for the entire tape content.
Please note recovery details, as in some cases content might be skipped from processing.
/Cheers!

Hi Egor, sorry for the delay but I wanted to try this new v.11 Feature. It does the job! Thanks.
