Hi Time...
I have an hourly backup.
What is the best practice to upload these backups to tape?
Sorry for the simple question, but I couldn't think of anything better.

Re: Best practice to upload these backups to tape
Hello,
the best practice is to align with your requirements
What retention do you need (weekly, monthly etc.)? Which backup mode are you using (forward incremental with synthetic full?)?
General answer: use classic backups to tape or GFS tape backup (whatever fits better to your needs)
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Best practice to upload these backups to tape
Hello Hannesk
At least one daily copy of this job that occurs every hour.
But this retention cannot impact my hourly job.
Would it be more practical to create a separate job?

Re: Best practice to upload these backups to tape
Hello,
backup jobs and tape jobs are independent and can have different retention.
If the tape job is too slow, then you might run into issues. Depending on the "prevent this job from being interrupted by the source backup jobs" checkbox in the tape job, you would get different behavior which job has priority. A second job can help, but I would try it with one job first.
Best regards,
