I am using Veeam 8 and I am trying to backup a folder in a remote linux server which is around 1.3 TB. It has been 40 hours and it is still building file tree. When I create a tar file from the folder it took 5 hours to finish the file to tape backup. The problem I think is the folder contains thousands of sub folders. What should I do to make the backup faster.
Thanks..

Re: Building File Tree Lasts For Days
Hello turhantekin and welcome to the community!
Are you using "file to tape" job or "backup to tape" one? That`s a known behavior for file- jobs with huge amount of small files. Indeed if you copy same files as an archive it works much faster.
You can upgrade to the newest product version, jobs work faster there.
Thanks!

If the Linux file server is a virtual machine, that should work faster. You will need to perform a disk backup first though.
Thanks!
Thanks!
