Daily Full Tape Jobs Setup
Just starting out with Veeam and working on the deployment in stages. I have everything setup with SOBR for local and cloud copy that works great but I also want to integrate a local tape copy. Right now the jobs are typical daily incremental and full on weekends, however, I was looking to get a daily tape copy that is full that can be sent offsite. I guess I'm not sure how to make that happen when looking at the tape job tasks. Do I need to do something else with the main backup jobs for this to work? Thanks in advance!

Re: Daily Full Tape Jobs Setup
Hello,
and welcome to the forums.
The question is, whether you still want to have increments also to tape. Increments and full to tape is not possible.
How are you creating your weekly fulls? Synthetic fulls on REFS / XFS with block cloning (https://www.veeam.com/blog/advanced-ref ... suite.html), or active full?
If you use active full, then you could switch to reverse incremental with active full.
The problem why I describe all these workarounds is, that there is no "virtual synthetic full" (https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=100) for backup jobs that have GFS activated.
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Daily Full Tape Jobs Setup
OK, yes, we are using synthetic fulls that run on Saturday and our main backup also has GFS activated.
So for us to take advantage of Virtual Full Backup off to tape as explained in the article I would basically have to duplicate my backups, but skip GFS? Then I can get fulls on tape?

Re: Daily Full Tape Jobs Setup
Or do I take the original backup job, take GFS off, then create a backup copy with GFS? Then I'll be able to use the regular backup for tape? Am I making sense?

yes, that would work. the GFS job needs a forward forever incremental chain to be able to create virtual synthetics.Or do I take the original backup job, take GFS off, then create a backup copy with GFS?
