Device to tape licensing
Hi,
What license type do we need to be able to use the "device to tape" feature ?
We are currently using the community edition but when we try to use the feature it does say that we need the Enterprise license.
There are so many licensing options, it confuses me.
We have about a dozen of on-premise servers to backup.
So basically 12 servers with the "device to tape feature" (different from the "files to tape" one).
And where can we buy it.
Thanks in advance

Re: Device to tape licensing
Hi
There's no such functionality or feature called "Device to Tape". Please double check the correct feature name you're inquiring about. A screenshot of the message, or a link to the User Guide page would help to identify it. For tape we offer File to Tape, Backup to Tape and NDMP to Tape jobs.
For small businesses like yours, we only have one licensing option. It's called Veeam Essentials and this has all possible features. So you can't go wrong with this option and you're guaranteed to have access to all capabilities.
Thanks!

Re: Device to tape licensing
Sorry for the mistake,
I was referring to the "Backup to Tape" feature. What we need is to be able to backup an entire machine to tape.
Which edition should we buy exactly for 10-12 vms ?
Thanks

Re: Device to tape licensing
Thanks for becoming a paying customer! Yes, this is the correct number of licenses to buy for protection of 12 servers indeed, because you are allowed to exceed the licensed amount by up to 5 licenses without any impact.
