Easy way to find end of life tape

Post by moctad_harry » 1 person likes this post

Hi All,

We have a tape library with two drives and a media pool of 30~ LTO 7 tapes. The job will finish with a warning saying :

"TapeDrive alert: The tape cartridge is nearing the end of its calculated life. It is recommended that you:. Use another tape cartridge for your next backup. Store this tape in a safe place in case you need to restore data from it."

But it doesn't specify which tape needs replacing, fortunately you can navigate to C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup and trawl the logs to find it but it would be nice if Veeam could display this in the GUI or HTML report.

Hello Harry,

Currently tape life span is displayed only in the tape media properties. Thank you for your feedback, I'll discuss with the team if its possible to display the state of the tape in the UI grid as a dedicated column. Cheers!

Hi guys

@Dima P. Any news on that topic ? TapeDrive alert: The tape cartridge has reached the end of its calculated life
I have the same kind of interest because our LTO 8 removed several of our tapes at the same time and we need to buy new cartridges quickly.
I could be interresting to anticipate this kind of situation and probably to affect these LTO cartridge to specific archive.
Thx.
Kind Regards
R
