Hi,
we use a Dell DataDomain 9400 as primary backup target. For Restores they use an "accelerated restore" feature, which will spawn 33 restore sessions to read from the DataDomain.
We still use tape for long-term retention, so the vendor suggested to us that this "accelerated restore" feature could be used the same way for tape-out, hence i am requesting this feature now. He told me that he already talked to Veeam internally and it's supposed to be not much of a problem to get it done.
I think this will immensly boost the tape out performance for every single DataDomain user out there.
Therefore, this feature would be highly appreciated.
Let me know if you have questions, or what you think.
Thanks.
Best,
Julian

Re: Feature Request: Accelerated Restore for Tape out
For quick reference how accelerated restore works, heres the link for that, too:

Sounds like a good idea. I'd like to know what others think.
Contrary to popular rumor, tape it appears is not dead.

Re: Feature Request: Accelerated Restore for Tape out
Hi Julian, the feature you're referring to allows to turn random read during restores into a more sequential one. Since tape jobs read anyway sequentially from Data Domain, no optimization/acceleration is needed in this case.
