Re: Feature Request "use the tape library as an TIER store"
Hi,
Size requirement is understandable. Regarding "older than" - what is your age scale on old backups? Older than 1 month, 6 months, 1 year, other?
Thanks

Hello,
Our retention time for backups is 30 days, of which we would like to save 10 days on disk and from then 20 days on tape.
Regards, Karsten

Hello Karsten,
Thank you for the update. Can you please also clarify how your backup jobs are configured i.e. what backup mode are you using: forever forward incremental, forever incremental with periodic full backup or reverse incremental? Cheers!

Got it. I think that for now a viable workaround might be to have a File to Tape job that is triggered by Task Manager. A command that will start file to tape job can be found on the final step of F2T wizard. Our retention time for backups is 30 days, of which we would like to save 10 days on disk and from then 20 days on tape.

Hello Dima,
We are using incremental backup with periodic full backup.

You can write a PS script that:
- Checks given folder
- Finds files older than X days
- Sets them as a source for file to tape job
Thanks!

Thanks!
We have several disk to tape jobs that work well.
The problem is, that these jobs are currently downpaying 30 days of backups from disk to tape.
This means, however, that all data is backed up twice within the first 10 days.
I would like to backup the first 10 days on disk and then until the 30th day on tape.
Regards, Karsten
