Folks,
On Friday I created a Tape job, chose "Backups...", and added our NAS/File share backups on disk, as sources for the tape job.
Today I noticed that the backup ended up being a "Files to tape" job, even though I chose "Backups..." instead of "Files..." when I created the job.
Does this mean that the job has used the VeeamBackup database to store file and folder data, which I tried to avoid? If so, it is a good thing that we have moved the VeeamBackup database to a "real" SQL server. I see that the MDF file is now over 13 GB.
Kind regards,
PJ

Re: File share backups to tape
Hello PJ,
Backup to tape with NAS backup as a source indeed uses file to tape engine to process the files as files from NAS backup. As a result you have a file catalog fully operational for files from tape restore and can restore a single file from tape media. Thank you!
