Hi, I have this really annoying issue with Veeam File to Tape backup. I am backing up files directly from disk to tape. There is a very serious issue during the restore of a full backup, where Veeam requests tapes from previous backups, and some of those tapes are no longer valid... I have worked with Veeam on this, and thought we got it fixed, but the issue is back again. Hitting the forums to see if maybe someone out there has run into this and fixed the issue.

I do a Full backup on Fridays. The tapes are labeled Friday 1 - Week One and Friday 2 - Week One. Come Monday I do my test restore from Friday's backups, and Veeam now requests tapes from, let's say, Monday Week Three, Wednesday Week Two... There will be a list of at least 10 tapes, and some of them have already been rotated off. Backups are no good to me if I cannot restore them...

Rex,

Try to install the latest cumulative patch for v10 but I'd recommend to upgrade to the latest v11. The mentioned behavior should be fixed in the latest version. Thanks!

Dima, I updated to version 11, and that did not fix this issue. I updated on Sunday the 18th, and this last Friday the 23rd I did my Full backup. I tried a test restore this morning from Friday's backup and it is asking me for 3 other tapes, and one of them is from May...

Hello Rex,

Thanks for sharing the news! Can you please clarify if the new logs were uploaded to the mentioned case or you got a new one? Need to ask QA team to review the logs from your v11 installation to understand what's going on.

Rexter,

Can you please test it with newly written media? Old tapes that were recorded with previous versions might not have the needed behavior, thus you get additional tape prompts. New logic should kick in after full run to tape. Thanks!

Dima, my Backup on the 23rd was a new full backup on version 11.
