Hi all,
I'm trying to setup a job to copy a full backup to tape each night without changing my primary job to reverse incremental. I thought that by scheduling a virtual full backup (on the tape job) on each day my primary backup runs it would create a full backup on my tape, but I must misunderstand that option.
Can anyone help with a method to accomplish my goal?
Thank you for any help you can offer.

Re: Full Tape Backup Nightly
Hello,
virtual full should do the job, if your backup mode is forever forward incremental. With forward incremental with synthetic / active full, that does not work (I assume, that's what you are doing right now).
On REFS / XFS you could also do synthetic full backup instead of reverse incremental every day. I would go with the first option (forever forward incremental)
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Full Tape Backup Nightly
Hannes - thanks for your reply. I accidentally left periodic full synthetic backup enabled on the job and that was causing the problem. It's now creating a full backup with the "virtual full."
