Importing tapes in I/E slots

Post by crp0499 »

I have a Quantum Scaler i40 and I have inserted five new tapes into the I/E slots, but Veeam is not seeing them in the I/E slots. Also, the Quantum dashboard, accessed by going to the IP of the Scaler, does not see the five new tapes to import either.

I am confused as to how to get the Scaler to "see" these five new tapes.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Did you try to import the tapes?
In the tape infrastructure right click the library and choose import.

I'm unsure why you don't see the tapes directly in the library...

Yes, I did try that. It errors out that there are no tapes in the I/E slots. I know Veeam is doing comms with the scaler using iSCSI commands so I'm sure the library has to see the tapes to import before Veeam can. I'm just not sure why new tapes are not showing up.

Seems like a type of issue that needs to be investigated with Quantum representative directly, as we mostly rely on device native tape discovery mechanisms. Thanks.

If the Scaler doesn't see them, then you might want to manually eject the tapes and remove/re-add the I/E slots in the Operator Panel/Web Panel. Veeam is pretty "simple" when it comes to tape in that it doesn't see past the driver really, so whatever the tape hardware shows is what Veeam shows (usually).

Hello All,

I have recently added a NEC LL009F tape drive to my VB&R server and the tapes have been recognized by veeam.
However, when I try to import the tapes(Tape infrastructure--libraries--right click on the library--import tape), I get the following error/warning.
"2020/02/10 11:35:07 Warning No tapes for import found in I/E ports."
Has anyone encountered this and was able to solve the problem?
How do I go about solving this problem please?

Thanks.

Are you positive that:

- there is a tape in I/E port of your tape drive
- you're utilizing the latest drivers provided by device manufacturer

If yes, then, reach our support team for further investigation. By the way, what product version you're using?

Thanks!
