Internal RDX USB 3.0 Drive

Good morning, I have a physical server with vmware vsphere 6.7 with an Internal RDX USB 3.0 Drive.
On this server I have a virtual machine with veeam ENTERPRISE PLUS, I wanted to know if I can make backups on the tape.

VMware does not support tape drives connected directly to ESXi 5.5 and later. For more information, see VMware vSphere Release Notes.

If it's passed through via PCIe or FC passthrough, it's a no go. It may work flawlessly, but that isn't the same as supported. If you can present it to your Veeam Server via iscsi, I believe that's just fine.

(Besides, passthrough is always a chore -- you wouldn't want it anyways, especially with VMware not supporting it. It would mean you're completely stuck the moment you face an issue)

You can setup repository with rotated drives and use it as a target for backup copy jobs. Cheers!
