Hi Community,
We are currently running a Tandberg T40+ library with an HP LTO-5 drive and this setup works without any problems. Now we have bought a second-hand HP LTO-6 drive to meet the increased storage requirements, but now we have serios problems with the drive. There are crashes with CRC errors or an unnecessary cleaning is required.
We've already sent the drive back because we've found a loose screw in it and got back the same drive supposedly repaired. Now we have sent a long logfile from an HP tool and now we get the surprising result that our library has problems with the power supply of the drive and a LTO-5 drive requires less power than a LTO-6 drive, so the old drive still works without problems.
Can that be correct? Does an LTO-6 drive actually consume more power than an LTO5 drive and can this be responsible for the above errors?
Thx & Bye Tom

Re: [OT] LTO-6 Drive Power Consumption Issue
Hello Tom,
To be honest we never tested device power consumption, so unfortunately I cannot comment. Since you are in touch with HPE support maybe you could check with them? Please do not forget to share the results of your findings. Thank you.
