If you see "Delete_Partitions_LTO5" function in your xTalk, what version is it and where from did you get it?

My xTalk version is 6.6.0.3. You can download it directly on the quantum website:

Thank you - I installed this version and now I have "Delete_Partitions_LTO5" function as well! Also, it recognized my tape drive successfully but I haven't actually tested it on any of my tapes yet... will give it a try next time!

This issue is now fixed in the VBR v8. Please check, if the solution we implemented applies to your scenario and eliminates the incorrect partitioning issue: from now all during the erase operations tape media partition should be scaled to full the media size. Thank you.
