Manually mapping of tape to tape library on Veeam B&R 8

Post by zipman »

Hi to everybody,
today I upgraded the server of a client of mine from B&R 7 to B&R8. Everything went smooth, except for the tape drive that is recognized as standalone and not part of the tape library (a partitioned IBM TL3573 with ULT4 drive).
I had the same problem even with version 7, but I resolved creating the registry key TapeDevices REG_MULTI_SZ "changer0=tape0" as stated in the KB1842.
Unfortunaly the same workaround doesn't work on Veeam B&R8 anymore (I suppose because of the separation of the tape services) and I cannot find an updated KB article.
Can someone help me with this issue, please?

Thanks
Flavio

Hello Flavio,
Thank you for posting this, the article needs to be corrected as now it contains the information related to v7 version.

Meanwhile try this one:

Code: Select all

Path:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication
Key Type:
REG_MULTI_SZ
Name:
TapeDevices
Value:
ProxyName
Changer0 = Tape0:DriveNumInChanger, Tape1:DriveNumInChanger

Thanks Dmitry :)
As suggested I added the REG_MULTI_SZ registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Veeam\Veeam Backup and Replication\TapeDevices
with value:
Local Tape Server
changer0=tape0:0

and everything worked as expected.
Thanks again
Flavio
