Hello community,
I thought that I understood how a GFS media pool works but it seems I need to get some clarification
I am trying to write documentation on which tapes to remove from the library each week and I thought that simply taking out all tapes created the previous week would suffice but yesterday I noticed that the mediaset name has not been updated on tapes used this week. The tapes used this week were all reused; ie. two of them were also used for a weekly mediaset created on 2022-01-08. We keep 4 weekly backups so I get that the tape will be reused but why aren't the tapes stamped with a new mediaset name?
Veeam is version 11.0.1.1261 P20211211

Re: Mediaset Naming/stamping Question
Hello,
just guessing... did you set the "Append backup files to incomplete tapes"?
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Mediaset Naming/stamping Question
Hello Hannes,
Good guess...yes, it is set. I have, wrongly, assumed that each weekly set is a completely separate entity, even with this setting enabled. I thought that enabling this would just make sure that each tape in the weekly set would be filled to the brim.
Thank you for clarifying this.
