Hello,
I would like to know that it is saved during a full export on Saturday (5:00) and incremental the rest of the other days.
To date, the configuration is as follows, forward with a complete syntax on Friday night.
It seems to me that there should be only one tape on all tapes, but my first tape backup job you have to export 2 times.
Below the architecture in place:
- 1 Veeam Vm backup server piloting the 2 servers below
- 1 physical server with primary proxy, primary repository, and tape server roles (the server is attached to SAN storage)
- 1 physical server with backup copy backup job roles.
Thank you for your comeback,
Ju,

Re: Method job backup to export to tape
Hello,
unfortunately I cannot see how we can help you.
- how are the tape jobs configured?
- how are the backup jobs configured?
Maybe it's easier to open a support case?
Thanks,
Hannes

Re: Method job backup to export to tape
Hello,
Sorry for the lack of details.
Currently, the disk configuration is: forward incremental with syntetic full at friday. For the configuration of the job on tapes: full on Saturday morning.
This weekend, Veeam has exported two full on tapes. My client wants to have a single full on tapes on Saturdays and incrementals on the rest of the week. While reducing the amount of tape export.
Also, do I have to use the user per vm files option?
thank you,
Julian,

Re: Method job backup to export to tape
Hello,
setup sounds good. If this was the first run ever of the (full) tape job job, then I guess that he did not acknowledge the "only latest full to tape" (or similar) dialog box.
You can also set that manually. If my guess is correct, the issue will be gone next week.
In general per-VM chains make restores from tape much easier. Yes, I would definitely go with per-VM chains.
Best regards,
Hannes
