No Backup to Tape possible after upgrade to V12

Hello,

anybody else stumbled upon the problem that Tape jobs are not possible after upgrade to V12? We have an ongoing ticket with support ( #05900775 ) and I wondered if more people had problems. Jobs fail instantly with an object reference error message.

I see in the internal case comments, that the bug is confirmed.

I have a similar issue, i can get a tape backup if i prevent the source backup from running. We are only backing up full backups whilst our weekly are incremental. Worked fine in V11, our full tape backup on LTO8 take a little over 2 days.

Nope - it's jost not working at all and fails within 2 Seconds. Standalone LOT-8 drive, weekly fulls. So nothing extraordinary I think.

Its very strange, my tape backups are working completely fine to LTO-8.
External HP Drive with FiberChannel.

There any specific cause to this?

I don't know - it's a Quantum (IBM) external SAS Drive. As I can't write anything to it from veeam after the upgrade we are currently SOL.

Ticket is currently on Awaiting RnD response with severity 1 for 5 days now without any information :/

I'm sorry to hear that the fix didn't solved your issue. In another case the fix solved the tape issues.

I believe, you have installed the fix on top of CP1 (P20230223). A new version of the fix compatible with CP1 was build yesterday.
Your assigned support engineer should provide you the fix for CP1 soon. If not, please let me know.

Indeed I installed the Patch over CP1 as stated in the Info from the support

"1. Download and install the latest cumulative patch found here https://www.veeam.com/kb4420
2. Download and install the private fix found here: "

So far nobody reached out to me with the CP1 compatible fix.

been hit with tape backup issues too after V12 upgrade. Not sure if mine is the same issue, tho.
Tape jobs are failing after a while with "Pipeline timeout: it seems that pipeline hanged."

sorry for the delay but I've been out of service. We did get a CP compatible version of the fix that fixed the problem. Tape backups works now as expected.

It is best to check with the support engineer you received the private fix from. Release Notes only contain common support issues out of those 180+ bugs fixed, so not having a particular issue listed is not yet an indication.
