Post by Steen »

if there is a full backup-job made this day and and some incrementals after that Tape-job only take the full.
2015-05-22 17:59:01 :: Processing full backup of A test
2015-05-22 18:05:50 :: Processing incremental backup of A test: nothing to backup
2015-05-22 18:05:50 :: 0 directories and 1 files backed up successfully

Hello Steen,
Have you set backup to tape job to copy both fulls and increments? Thanks!

You created a source job with 1 Full + 2 Increments, set the backup to tape job to copy Fulls only and as a result one Full backup is copied. Is it correct? If yes, what is your concern?
Thanks!

Hello,

what Version are you using?

What i have seen:
If you use Veeam v8 prior update 2 you have to enable syntetic full for the days you want and additionally enable the checkbox to process incremental Backup Files within your Tape Job.
If you using the actual Version 8 with update 2 installed you don't have to enable the checkbox to process incremental Files.

I am not sure what your problem is.
Do i understand right that Veeam only store your first VBK File on tape and not the syntetic full from the last restore Point?

Maybe you can clarify your issue a litte bit further.

if you make a full backup now and make tape same day and after that you make make incremental backup.

Now you You want a full SYNTHETIC backup.
But it says nothing to backup.

Ok. From my understanding from Syntetic full to tape you are right. I would also expect a Full Syntetic Backup to tape, because there is a newer (incremental) Restore Point.

I see something similar to this sometimes with Syntetic full.
Forward Incremental Forever at 20:00 PM. Backup to Tape at 23:00 PM. Sometimes i am getting the Message "No Restore Points found" or "No new file".
But in fact there is a new (incremental) Restore Point created at 20:00 PM.

Just to clarify, there is a incremental point created by source backup job on a given day, there is backup to tape job that has the said backup job as its source, virtual full backup is enabled in the setting of the tape job and its creation date coincides with creation time of the mentioned restore point, when you execute tape job it fails, instead of creating virtual full backup, right?

Yes, there is a new incremental point by source backup job.
Yes, backup to tape job with said backup job as its source.
Yes, Virtual full backup enabled from monday to sunday.

If i execute tape job (not matter if scheduled or manually) the VM is processed and marked as "Success". But if i click at the VM there is only the Message "No Restore Points found".
