Re: Remote Files to Tape
Hi Gostev, thanks for the reply.
How may I achieve that? If I try to backup directly through a network share or mapped drive I get the error "Building file tree. All files were skipped."
I'm also unable to add the remote server to the Veeam infrastructure to browse the disks because it is a Win 2003 x86 VM.
Thanks.
Regards,
Guillermo.-

Hi, Guillermo. Could elaborate on what issues you have when you go to the backup infrastructure -> Microsoft Windows -> add server and try to add remote machine to the backup console? Thanks.

Hi Vladimir,
When I try to add the server, The operation times out by not reaching the intended server.
I can ping that server from the Veeam Server I'm using without issues.
Thanks.

Re: Remote Files to Tape
How are you trying to add the server – via Full/Short name, IP address? It might be worth trying all the methods and seeing whether it works or not. Thanks.

Re: Remote Files to Tape
Guillermo,
If there is a problem in adding sever to console, you just select shared folder during file to tape job on Files and Folders step (getting folder mapped in windows as drive would make that possible).

Guillermo,
Ok, sorry I misread your previous post. You are mapping only the folder with the file to backup or could it be the whole disk?

Re: Remote Files to Tape
Vladimir, sorry I did not saw your post. i've tried with IP, Shortname & FQDN.
Dmitry, I'm mapping a whole Disk, but selecting a specific folder inside it on the tape job.
Thank you both.
Regards,
Guillermo.-

Re: Remote Files to Tape
Guillermo,
Thank you for the provided information.
Could you please confirm that the account/credentials used are the same for drive mapping and Veeam B&R services on this server? After the files and folders step of file to tape job when credentials manager is populated, you use the same account - this could be changed either by creating new file to tape job or by deleting the incorrect entry in Veeam database (let me know if you need instructions on this, in case recreating file to tape job is not the option).
For adding server to backup infrastructure there could be multiple reasons - and the best place to investigate are Veeam logs. The most common case - firewall prevents Veeam services from being installed/started.
