Restore data out of VBK file from tape

Veeam Logoby martin_nz » Tue Mar 03, 2015 11:58 pm

Hello,

I am new to Veeam tape backups and currently I have a reverse incremental backup job going to tape so I am backing up .vbk files. The backup to tape runs fine however I was wanting to know if there is a way of exploring and restoring individual files out of the VBK file directly from tape or do I have to restore the entire VBK file from tape and then explore it after it has been restored off tape?

Thanks

Correct. You can leave your vote for granular data restore functionality in this thread, though.

[MERGED] : Restore directly from tape?

Hi guys,

This is quite a newbie question but can you please tell me if we can directly restore from tape or if we need to restore VBKs and VIBs on disk before we can restore a VM?

Thanks,

You'll have to restore backup files prior to restoring VMs.
