Oh, that's a real setback. File-to-tape backup over the network is a huge waste of tape device resources, as a LTO-7 drive is almost twice as fast as a gigabit network and when the drive needs to wait for data and go into a stop-and-go mode, the durability suffers enormously. On the other hand, it's nonsense to restore a multi-terabyte volume just to restore a single file. This is expensive and impractical, you should reconsider that please...
We'll (or have to) find a workaround but it would be nice if Veeam took the problem seriously, because it's really a serious problem. Maybe you have the opportunity to pass this as a feature request to the responsible department. Thank you.
