Restoring files from a tape backup

Hello,

Using Veeam version 11.

Got a weekly tape backup set up which runs well

I want to test the restore feature and only restore a file (not the full backup). How do I do this as I cant seem to select the files, the tape is online in the console but there is no way to select the files on the tape. Do i need to mount it or something similar first?

what does this mean? you need to restore the full tape to perform the single test backup file ? Or I do not understand what's mean "you need to restore the image backup to a VBR repo first" ?

Hello Coco,

With backup to tape jobs you tape out backup files (say vm backup or agent backup) which may contain needed files. In order to restore a file you need to restore backup to a staging repository and then use file level recovery. If file to tape job was used to tape out files and folders, you can retrieve those directly from tape media via file from tape recovery.
