Good day
Busy trying to restore VMware backups from tape but the tape backups was done by a previous Veeam instance that doesn't exist anymore so the new VBR DB doesn't know about these backups.
Tapes were catalogged by the new Veeam server (v12) and we can see the .vbk files in the tape server windows folder and in Veeam console under the "files" tab.
The imported tab appeared but there are no backups inside the imported tab on the Veeam console home screen so that we can do the next restore process.
We need to now do the next restore step but cant find the place where to do it.
These backups on tape were made by Veeam 9.5 and now we need to restore with V12 from tape.
Any advice will be appreciated
Thanks

Re: Restoring VMware Backups from tape to new VBR server
Hello Ruaan
I assume you have created Files to Tape Jobs (instead of backup to Tape).
1) You must restore the backup files (VBK + VBM) first from Tape to a Veeam backup repository:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
2) Run a rescan on the backup repository:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
Now you can see the backups as imported. Ready to restore your VM backups.
If you only have the VBK files on the tape, you must restore the files from Tape to disk and then manually import the backup files:
https://helpcenter.veeam.com/docs/backu ... ml?ver=120
Best,
Fabian
