Wanting to reuse some tapes for backup from another application.
if we do a slow erase in Veeam on the tapes, is this considered a secure method of erasing the previous data, or is this like disks where you need random data / dedicated programs.

Re: Secure tape erasure
Hello,
I would always use tape encryption, which indirectly solves the problem.
I just googled for "data restoration deleted tape" and it looks like restore from deleted tapes is possible

Re: Secure tape erasure
Brisbane,
Long erase (slow) zeroes all the content previously written to tape media - I'd recommend this option. Short erase (fast) removes only headers from the tape media, so theoretically such data could be restored. Thanks!
