I understand that Short Erase doesn't erase data on the tape, only the header. My question is can data be restored from a tape that has gone through the Short Erase process but has not been overwritten with new data? I'm wondering about how much damage could be done by a malicious user who had access to the console and tapes were still loaded in the library. Long Erase I'm not worried about, it takes to long erase a LTO8 tape with Long Erase.
Thanks,
Tom

Re: Short Erase
Hello!
No, restore is not possible after short erase. This option speeds up erase process but is not supported by some tape devices. Thanks!
