We are currently backing up to zfs pools all flash and hybrid,
We would like to implement an air-gapped scenario but i was wondering what would be suggested for a 1 copy of 7TB data to backup to tape from veeams backup files , maybe every 2-3 days
Thikning in terms of hardware, cheapest , could be used, refurbed, and one shot for the 7TB no need to switch tapes,
clearly this is only for crypto ramsom or fire issues,

Re: Suggestions for tape systems
Hi Frank,
Sounds like an LTO7, but since you are talking about Veeam backups, I assume these backups are compressed. LTO7 is about 6TB native capacity and drive compression won’t give much space saving if files are already compressed, so one shot (one tape) might be a challenge. Take a look at HP libraries we use them in our QA department1 copy of 7TB data to backup to tape from veeams backup files

Re: Suggestions for tape systems
We are just now able to start backing up our file server to tape. It is running on Linux with SAN storage and ultimately there were only a few million files So, we tarred them up from a snapshot and are backing up 1000 files to LTO-7 using Veeam.
