Tape backup job failed

Hi,

We upgraded Veeam Backup & Replication to 11.0.0.837 recently. One of tape backup jobs runs and creates tapes as usual, but it shows failed message during the process.

Error:

Failed to create backup metadata info: Veeam.Tape.Core.TapeMetaGenerationException: Encryption state is invalid ---> System.Exception: Encryption state is invalid
at Veeam.Backup.Core.CTapeSerializedKeySetProvider.GetUserKeySet()
at Veeam.Tape.Core.CTapeMetaBackupEncrypted.CreateOnBackup(Guid id, Guid originalId, String name, String backupPolicyName, DateTime timestampUtc, EDbBackupEncryptionState encryptionState, CTapePolicyBackupInfo policyBackupInfo, CTapeSerializedKeySetProvider keySetProvider,

We've tried to create another tape job to backup same source or change to another tape drive device, but not resolved the problem.
Anyone with experience to this issue?

Whenever facing a technical issue, to Veeam Support path goes first place. Especially when it comes to encryption keys - you don't want someone on the forum to suggest you something that will alter configuration and lead it to yet even worse scenario to troubleshoot. Please do open a ticket and feel free to share it's ID here for reference.

As for the issue itself, did you perform an in-place upgrade of VBR server or moved it to a new machine? You might be facing KB2327 symptoms...

We did an in-place upgrade and will try the solution in KB2327.

KB2327 applies to server migration case.
Please work with Veeam Support to get your encryption keys issue sorted.
