Hello Tanja,

Short erase option will clear tape metadata only and backup data will be overwitten, but this option is not supported by some tape devices. Long erase option will clear all data written to tape (meta data + backup data) - it is supported by all devices but takes longer than short erase.

Hello d.popov,

thank you. But with wich method the Backup data will be cleared?
I think Veeam B&R must overwrite the backup data with any method so that the tape will be clear after this procedure.
So, the question is: Which clearing methode will be used to delete the backup data?

Thanks a lot
Tanja

If you select Long erase, the data will be zeroed out.
