Tape Full and Incremental

Hello

I would like to set up tape migrations to full and incremental backups using different media pools to different tape libraries.

The Veeam backup jobs run on weekdays only (Mon-Fri). They are forever incremental jobs.

The tape migration for full backups would be at the weekend (Sat-Sun).

The tape migration for incremental backups would be weekdays (Mon-Fri).

How do I set up the tape migrations to ensure that the full backup migration runs on the weekend and the incremental backup migrations run during the week?

As a note we are upgrading to Veeam 9.5 on Thursday 4th May 2017 and will be moving to REFS repositories.

Hello Andrew,

Just to clarify, you want to write your backup file to two separate tape devices. For each tape device you plan to create a media pool, one is going to be used for full backup files and another for incremental only, right? Thank you.

Yes, that is correct. I need to make sure the full go to a media pool on the weekend and the incremental go to the other media pool during the week,

- Create two media pools ("Full" and "Incremental")
- Create a backup to tape job
- Select forward forever incremental backup job as its source
- Select corresponding media pools ("Full" for fulls, "Incremental" for increments)
- Schedule the job to run on everyday basis, selecting Saturday and Sunday as virtual full backup creation dates
