Folks,
I have previously used backup copy jobs as sources in a tape job. And now I am changing that, and I will use the primary backup jobs as sources instead. And now I noticed that when I add a primary backup job as a source in the tape job, the tape job becomes listed as a secondary target in the primary backup job. So there are now two secondary targets in each primary backup job, the backup copy job to disk, and the tape job. Does that have any unwanted effects when the primary backup job starts? Will it try to write to tape? I don't want that, I want the backup to tape performed only when the tape job runs.
Kind regards,
PJ

Re: Tape job as secondary target
Hi PJ
A secondary job creates a copy of the backup data created by the primary job.
It doesn't mean, that the secondary job runs at the same time a primary job.
Check your schedule option in the backup and tape job.
Best,
Fabian

Re: Tape job as secondary target
The primary backup jobs are run once a day.
The tape job is disabled, and I run that job manually by choosing "Active full -> Monthly" once a month. It uses a GFS Media Pool.
