Tape Library offline after move VBR to new hardware
Hi,
on weekend we moved our existing Veeam B&R (VBR9.5 Update3a) to new hardware with Windows 2016. Our Quantum Superloader 3 switched also to the new server (SAS-Interafce).
We installed the latest quantum drivers for tape library and LTO drive. The new server shows up booth devices into server device center.
Afterwards we install Veeam B&R to the new server and migrate VBR configuration backup from old server to the new one.
Everything works fine (all B2D jobs migrated and works without problems) except the B2T-jobs won't work. The tape library shows as 'Offline Tapes' into VBR.
When we try to rescan the library the follwoing error occurs.
Any suggestions?
best regards
Dirk

Hello Dirk.
Have you deployed a new Tape Server role (component that serves the connection between Veeam B&R server and Tape Library) after your Veeam B&R was migrated? Thanks!

Re: Tape Library offline after move VBR to new hardware
Hi Dima,
very strang! There was a 'Local Tape Server' shown with the actual server name.
Anyhow, I've added a local tape proxy. After that the lto drive showed as single tape! Then i do a library rescan. The library is goes online an the single lto drive disappears!
After that i removed the local tape proxy an reboot the backup server.
Now, only the local 'Local Tape Server' shown again and the library is still online!
So, let's see tonigt if the tape jobs working again.
best regards
Dirk

The existing B2T job fails again.
I've tried to update the job, but with no success.
So in the end, i made a new B2T job.
The new job works without any problems.
best regards
Dirk

If the issue re-appears, kindly, open a ticket with our support team, as the described behaviour doesn't look expected. Thanks!

Additionally, try to open Media Pool properties and on the tape step go to manage libraries and make sure that your library is listed there. Veeam B&R may think that this is a new tape device, so it needs to be re added to the media pool. Cheers!
