does veeam in any way limit the speed as to which it can read/write to tape? Looking to move on to LTO7 and its seems pretty quick. I am at LTO5 with an HP MSL2024 writing at roughly 70MB/s. Want a tape drive that can hit 150MB/s
The speed of file to tape or backup to tape job is mostly defined by read speed provided by backup repository, speed of repo-to-tape device connection, write speed provided by tape device. We don't put any cap on the later, but keep in mind all three variables (not just a single one) while thinking about performance improvement. Thanks.
Sure, as it reads from the repo it has to re-hyrdate anything if you're using cloning .. I thought of that after I posted this however. Im going to use the HP L&TT tool to do a speed test on my tape drive w/o compression to see how it fairs.
