Tape Operator Role?

Is there a roll other than full backup administrator that would allow someone to just manage tapes? If not, can there be one?

Please add more roles for backupoperators. I think it should be possible to define an tape operator who is not able to do anything else in veeam.
or for example cloud operator a.s.o.
A few more roles would be fine!

And what action scope would you like to see for tape restore operator? Just an ability to restore either backup or individual file to repository or chosen server, that's all?

For us it would be important to have a user who can physically manage tapes (export and impport tape, maybe move tapes into pools and vaults) without the ability to change jobs or to restore anything.

or at least just to manage tape operations an jobs without the ability to change, backup or restore anything else in veeam.

I'll second the need for either a Tape Operator role or an expanded Backup Operator role.

I've got a group of operators that monitor the status and completion of our backup jobs. They will occasionally need to start or stop jobs, so Backup Operator is the role that they've got now. In V7 we gave them the Backup Operator role, and they were able to import and export tapes. We did the same thing for V8, but now they can't do the import or export

I'm able to import and export as an administrator, but I'd like to get things set up so I don't have to do this for them every week.

I am enquiring about the progress of this too as its a good requirement, as i just tightened up my Users & Roles after Gostevs recent weekly email with this regard, but only to find no tape management for backup operator.

ie Import, Export, Eject. Inventory

I would give tape operator role complete access to all Features unter "tape infrastructure".
Or for example make two roles,
Tape Administrator --> complete acces to "tape infrastructure"
Tape Operator --> all roles you suggested above plus:

- move tapes to media pools
- erase tapes
- move to vault
- mark as free

Thanks. We are worried that Backup operator can accidentally erase the data while moving tapes. That’s why we've decided to enhance the existing Backup Operator’s permissions with the actions described above in upcoming release. In next version, we will add a Tape Operator role dedicated to tape operations only (including erase/move and mark as free). Make sense?
