Tape-Out strategy

Post by tsrunner »

Hello,

i have a very simple question: What is the best "tape-out" strategy and how i define the retetion policy?

I want to save in weekly cycles, so
  • 4 weeks -> 1 month (last tapes of weekly).
  • 12 months -> 1 year (last tapes of monthly).
  • 10 years.
How many tape jobs i need and which policy i need to setup? I have a small tape loader, make GFS sense?

thanks!

Hello tslinden,

Based on your explanation GFS media pools sounds like a perfect solution. Take a look at this Help Center article to learn more GFS media pools.

Overall - one GFS tape job could be enough but if you have many disk jobs with different backup schedule you may want to setup multiple gfs tape jobs to write disk backups to tape more efficiently. Cheers!
