Hi folks
My customer had bought tape library, and we decided to use standalone physical tape server , now the y asked me about disks lifespan (SSD) in that server,
when Data Mover is working and writing to tape is this process "in realtime" or is there some cache (due to nature of sequential write to tape) ?
Thanks

Re: Tape server cache
Hello,
and welcome to the forums.
The repository server must deliver the data fast enough to the tape server. Nothing special for SSDs to consider here (no extra caching).
Best regards,
Hannes

Re: Tape server cache
So only network connection between these two servers will be the deciding factor, LTO8 at 8Gig FC (in theory about 360MB/sec)

Re: Tape server cache
often it is also the disk speed of the repository. Sure, network should be 10G or better.
