Is it possible to configure v9.5.4b to use direct connection to the SAN for tenant tape backups?
We have a distributed infrastructure with a physical Tape Server with HBA to connect to a Fibre Switch.
The Autoloader is also connected to the SAN switch via Fibre
Tenant VCC copy jobs are stored in repositories on the SAN and are periodically backed up to tape using GFS.
We have multiple tenants and repositories.
What is the best way to connect and configure the Tape Server to use the HBA's to transfer data?
Currently the jobs are running over the network at around 80MB/s
I have looked online but cannot see anything relating specifically to Physical servers and version 9.5
Also do I need to install a proxy server on the Tape Server as a "Data mover"
Thanks

Re: Tenant tape job using direct SAN
As far as I know, as long as the repository and the tape server are connected to the same fabric, the transfer will use a local shared memory connection instead of strung copper to transfer. So just ensure your tape server is connected to the same fabric your repository is and you're golden
