Unable restore VM files from Tape to SMB share on PureStorge

Getting immediate failure when trying to restore from tape to target: smb share on purestorage
- Have more than enough space and other vm backups from vsphere to smb run just fine.
- Fails when trying "restore vm files" from tape media

Error: "the request is not supported. sparse file: failed to set zero data in file. unable to receive file. exception from server: shared memory connection was closed".

I recommend to continue with support. Otherwise you need to repeat all the information missing (what exactly are you doing? which wizard? which "VM files"? What kind of share (repository or just a general share) here again.
