Re: V12 tape costs

Post by WoenK »

Sorry for posting in an old thread, but I am really unsure now after our support company just told me, that my Backup to Tape job costs more licences.
I do not have a file to tape, but a Backup Job (created with Tape Jobs Backups) where I store the content of a repository (forever invecremental) on tape and I am creating a synthetic full backup with that job.
For me that is not like copy some files from a NAS and store them on tape but using the backups like in a backup copy job.
Or am I wrong?

I apologize, but I don't quite understand what you meant by your comment.

You can check the job type in the backup console. It's either a "Backup to Tape", "File to Tape Backup" or "Object to Tape Backup" job:
- "Backup to Tape" jobs will not consume a license as you have already licensed the primary backup job
- "File to Tape Backup" / "Object to Tape Backup" jobs will consume licenses ("500GB / 1 VUL instance" or "1TB capacity pack licenses") except for any Veeam backup files documented here

Hi Mildur,
thank you very much for the fast clarification.
Was already sceptical that a "normal" backup job should costs extra licences :D
