Veeam backup on unified storage and tape library

Veeam Logoby Sami » Tue Feb 16, 2016 8:40 pm

Hi

A question , if the veeam backup is connected to a unified storage instead of backup appliance and we want to connect a tape library too to take some tapes offline with some specific backups

What licenses are needed from cream side ? The native tape licenses ?

What else is needed ?

And how the connectivity will be for the tape library ?
Thanks
Sami

Hello Sami,

File to tape job are available even in Veeam B&R Free edition. For tight integration with disk jobs, we have another tape jobs – Backup to tape. This one can be used starting from Enterprise Edition.

how the connectivity will be for the tape library

You should install the tape 'proxy' component on windows server and then attach tape library to this server. Once done tape library should appear in you VBR console.

Check this Help Center article for more information - Working with Tape Media
