VEEAM Interface Lag

When selecting multiple tapes in the VEEAM interface, I get an extreme amount of lag. Is this normal/expected behavior? I can sometimes wait 5 seconds plus for a menu to come up when right clicking, etc.

Hello Jason,

Did you install patch 1 for Veeam B&R? I saw couple of mentionings about interface lags, but all users reported they were fixed by this patch.

Patch 1 did not fix this for me. I have been told patch 2 will have a fix for the lag and screen redraw.

Could you elaborate on how many tapes you selected? Also, can it be a problem with the underlying SQL server that doesn’t handle this workload well? Thanks.

Thanks for the updates. It seems to happen sometimes even with just one tape, but it always happens when dealing with 2 or more. It's slow to do the select, then once they get selected, right clicking can take 10 seconds or more sometimes before the menu draws.

Does it happen only for tape jobs? Or it’s more about GUI performance, in general? Thanks.

Only when working with tapes. It's not the tape jobs either, it's the actual media itself (Backup Infrastructure, expand tape library, working in media pools and with drives, etc). It could be something about interfacing with the tape libraries.

I verified that this happens after any tape is selected under my tape library.

Have you had chance to open a ticket with our support team and let them investigate this issue directly?

So far, we’ve have heard only a few problems related to interface lugging, most which should have been fixed in the patch#1, so, your problem seems to be a specific one.

Yep, you definitely should, since it’s rather hard to make any speculations regarding this or that particular issue without seeing actual environment and corresponding logs.
