Veeam logic when loader has LTO-7 and LTO-6 units
Veeam,
I am looking at possibly upgrading my dual drive TL2000 tape library (rebranded IBM 3573) which currently has 2x LTO-6 tape drives by replacing one of the LTO-6 drives with an LTO-7 drive which would mean that I will have LTO-6 and LTO-7 drives within the same enclosure.
What is Veeam's tape loading logic in this situation? Will it load LTO-7 media into the LTO-7 drive until it runs out of free media then use any free LTO-6 tapes for the LTO-7 drive?
Cheers,
Aaron

Hello,
Veeam does not support mixed configurations in one partition today. The only option to use both drives is to partition the library.

Best regards,Within a library partition, only one generation of LTO drives are supported.

[merged] LTO4 and 5 compability
Hi all,
I know this might may not be a direct Veeam question, but perhaps some knows.
We are planning on getting a few IBM TS3310 LTO5 drives extra to our current LTO4 drives as the LTO5 can R/W on our old LTO4 media. But does anyone know if Veeam can differentiate between the two types of media as LTO5 medias cannot be used in our LTO4 drives or will it just end up with errors?.

[merged] [Info/Feature Request] Dedicate drives to specific media pools
Hello,
I have a HP MSL4048 library with three drives, two lto6(6250 half size) and one LTO5(3280 full size). I tried to have veeam using all of them but it seems that while it will correctly identify what media is supported by each tape, it will ignore that info and try to put lto6 tapes in the lto5 drive. Is there any way to have veeam use lto6 drives for lto6 tapes and lto5 and lto6 drives for lto5 tapes? If that is not possible maybe try adding it to a future version would be nice, after all we have a tape drive that is collecting dust right now due to these shenanigans.
