Verify backup set/restore point on tape media
Hi everyone!
I wondered how I could find out which backup files are on which tape media.
We have a monthly job which copies specific backups to tape. We do retain those tapes for a year, and after that I only want to keep the oldest backup and overwrite all other medias.
I've already created a report after changing the tapes from our library, so I already know which job is on which tape. But I'm not sure how to 100% verifiy that those tapes really have the necessary backup files.
Also Veeam splits up some files on multiple tapes which makes it even harder to trace every backup set.
Is there a easy way to see which media is needed for restore point 'XXX'?
I'm afraid that if I try to restore a backup in the future it will ask me for an additional tape, which is already erased.
Thanks

I'm wondering what type of tape job you're using. Files to tape or backups to tape one? Thanks.

You can try Veeam ONE report called "Tape backup"; should provide information you're after. Thanks.

Correct. With the one correction, though. You can be 100% sure that this tape will be sufficent to recover given restore point. Thanks.

Re: Verify backup set/restore point on tape media
I just tried to recover a restore Point which, according to the report, is on a single media.
I have cataloged the media a few times but I'm always receiving this error:

Re: Verify backup set/restore point on tape media
What type of restore did you use? Restore entire VM or Restore backup from tape to repository? Thanks.

Re: Verify backup set/restore point on tape media
It seems that part of catalog is missing for whatever reason. As the result, neither the required medium is shown in the corresponding report, nor it can be found during restore operation. Thus, please open a support case and provide its number here. Thanks.

Re: Verify backup set/restore point on tape media
Well we've had some problems regarding the tape SQL tables while upgrading to v8, and the Support had to delete all entries from our database.
Could this be connected to the error?
Anyway I'll open a ticket next week(I'm out of office tomorrow); thank you very much for your support!

Re: Verify backup set/restore point on tape media
Yep, that would be my first suspect, may be some required entities were deleted during that process. Thus, restore doesn't appear to work at the moment. Thanks.Could this be connected to the error?
