Hello,

I had a backup job that was targeted to tape. Once the job finished I ejected the tape. Then I decided I wanted to run one more file copy job. So I put the tape back in, created a new file copy job to tape, set the proper media pool to use which is the same as the backup job, went to run it, and it ejected the tape that was in there. When I put the tape back it is stuck on "WaitingTape".

Am I not allowed to have a regular backup and a file copy job to the same tape?

Also, I noticed that Veeam will not detect a new tape until I got to inventory it, is that normal?

What mediaset and retention settings the given media pool have? Thanks.

The retention period on the media pool is currently set to 1 day for testing purposes.

And what sort of media set creation options are specified?

Oops, I have it set to create a new media set for each backup job. I assume that's the problem?

I put in a tape from yesterday and changed the setting to create new media sets at 6am each morning. Still ejected the tape.

With those settings a media set will be closed as soon as the session is finished. The specified retention will be applied to it, which means it will be possible to overwrite a tape only on the next day. Thanks.
